Small Change embodies family history and a love for oysters. Owner Branden Nichols' connection to the ocean began in childhood, voyaging to the Farallons on his grandfather's boat, affectionately named "Small Change." This name, a playful nod to their family and what was left in his grandfathers pockets after purchasing his boat, reflects the essence of their maritime adventures. Following years of sharing oysters in Oakland's wine bars, Small Change now drops anchor in the lively Temescal neighborhood. Our aim is to bring back the joy of pairing oysters with grower champagne and wines, just like in the early days, all while introducing a diverse menu crafted by Chef Lauryn Dakota Holbert.
